Day 4: Your sibling

Okay, well I have three of these but I am only going to write about one of them because he is the one who actually really cares about me.

Ya, sure, Bry and I have not always gotten along which is an understatement in a LOT of cases with us especially when we were in high school together, but I think deep down we have both always cared a lot about each other. This became more and more evident throughout his mission and even more so when he came home. While he was still on his mission he wrote to me almost every week which was great. He also cared enough about how I was really doing that he had two of his companions who got home before he did call me a few times to really check on me and see if I needed anything. It was great to know how much he really did care about me. Just after he got home in April, he came up to Logan for a little visit for 2 days and we just hung out and had fun together and then I took him to the airport so he could go back to Colorado to get back in the swing of things. We text frequently and he calls me fairly often to see how things are going and it's great to know that at least one of my siblings actually cares about me. Currently he wants me to try to go out to California to visit him when I get a break from school. That should be way fun. I am glad that even though we totally hated each other in high school, that we get along so well now and that I can at least have a semi-normal relationship with a sibling who actually cares about how I am doing and wants to visit me and be a part of my life. It's super great to have someone to talk to now too; it's almost like we are real siblings for a change. At least I've got one....

Christmas 2006 (For some reason we were actually semi getting along this day. ha)

April 2010

this is normal though, and just how our relationship works

Three: Parents

Sometimes I wonder what I am supposed to write on here about certain things. To be honest, a lot of the time I have no idea what I even want to write or will right until the moment that I am actually writing it. So here it is.

(me with my parents on move-in day in Logan, Aug. 2009)

Last year, I went to school at Utah State and loved it. I flew out to Utah a couple of weeks before school started and hung out with Nana in Provo and then my parents drove out with all of my stuff (including a vehicle! woo hoo!) and the next day we drove up to Logan and I moved in! What a crazy Saturday that was. I'm sure my mom probably cried most of the way home seeing as her baby was now in college and OFFICIALLY on her own. Ya, that was a weird feeling. I am so glad though that Jessi and I get along so well and that we did instantly! And that the rest of my roommates were fabulous as well. I realized after that how much I depend on my parents, for everything. When I was in high school I liked to think that I was really independent and could handle things on my own and be my own person and didn't need 'adult supervision'. After a week of being in college, I realized really how much my parents did/do for me, and how I really was still just a teenager and that I had a ton more growing up to do. That did happen this last year as well I believe, even though there is still much much more to learn and more growing up to do.

I am so grateful for my parents and all that they do because they pay for me to go to school (out of state by the way) and the help me out whenever I need it with whatever I need, be it money or food or gas or books or anything. I really do appreciate it because they have pretty much kept me alive the past year quite literally. They sacrifice so much for me and my siblings and area always willing to give us anything and everything that we need. (Now I am glad that tonight they were finally able to splurge on THEMSELVES and get a completely rad new car!)
I can't wait to finish growing up and see what is in store for me next because of how my parents raised me! Love you guys!

Day 2

Okay, so this is a hard one to write about because I don't really have a crush right now. I know, I know, I am a girl and I should, but I don't. I'm kinda enjoyin the single life for now. So instead, I am just going to ramble about crushes since I don't really have much else to say haha.

I remember growing up and crushes were always such a big deal. Who liked who on any given day, or that girl is trying to steal the other girls crush or OMG YOU LIKE HIM?!? Oh how I remember those moments fondly; being a teenage girl in middle and early high school when we didn't know any better..... oh how I do not ever wish to return to those days. haha. I sometimes think crushes are ways of just imagining our future in several different people. We may see someone who is absolutely gorgeous and have a crush on them because they have some features or some personality that we want in the future, and I think if we take the majority of our crushes and put them in to one person, it would almost create the perfect guy. Maybe. I guess I'll just have to wait a little while longer to really test my theory but oh well. This is the most ridiculous post of ramble mombo jombo I think I will stop now and go take a nap. =]

Thirty, five, one.

30 applications and resumes, 5 interviews, and 1 final job. I, am now successfully EMPLOYED! final. It only took nearly a month and lots of stress to finally find a job and I hope that it is good. Tori, the manager called Thursday wanting me to come in Friday afternoon for an interview. Less than 10 minutes after I arrived I had a job! She hired me on the spot after just a few questions like where I go to school and what not. I couldn't believe it! I went up to Bountiful after that to see my grandpa and I was going to spend the night there but then after I was hired, I found out she wanted me to be at training at 9:00am Saturday morning! So crazy. So, I got up this morning at 6:45 to get ready and get back down to Provo. Turns out, Bekah's fiancé also just got hired so we did training together... what a small world! Haha. I hope that it is going to be a good experience... but hey, money is money at this point in life since I am practically out of it. ha. After three hours of training, free food, studying, teaching someone to drive stick, watching a movie, more studying, and a delicious steak for dinner, I am absolutely exhausted, and have to get up early again tomorrow. Bleh, story of my life. Oh well, doesn't matter because I. AM. EMPLOYED!!!

30 days and best friends

Okay, so I have set myself a goal, write here everyday for a month. After I decided this I came across this on someone else's blog and decided it would be easier to write if I already knew what I was going to write about. Maybe. After reading through the list a couple of people came to mind multiple times... but I hope that when it comes to those certain days that I can think of different people so that every post is not all the same. We shall see I suppose! I do not promise that all of these posts will be upbeat or happy or enjoyable to read, but I can say that they will all be honest and not sugar coated with crap to make people feel better. I am going to try this new thing on here when I just say what I want to say, even if it may be hard to read for some people and any given time, including myself. I think it is the only way for me to really keep moving forward with my life. And I know for a fact that some of these posts will be very difficult for me to put out there, but I have made a goal and I am going to stick to it the best that I can. At the bottom of this list is post number 1..... Maybe this is more for my benefit than anything and more for me to remember my memories than for everyone else to know, but either way, I am doin' it! Woot!

Day One: Best Friend

Okay, so I don't believe that people only have one best friend. It's impossible to only have just one best friend in my life. I have too many events that have lead me to different people at different times that I have become close to. So here are the few people I am thinking of.

1) Bekah: I just love her. Today we went driving in my car so I could teach her to drive stick. It was just entertaining. Between her hilarious reactions when shifting wouldn't be super smooth or something, putting my feet on the dash to literally show her the best way to start out in first without giving the passengers whip-lash, just talking, and then having people walking by stare at us awkwardly because we would scream when she got a good start makes it all just priceless. Maybe I should become a professional at teaching people to drive stick because she got it down in like 15 minutes! And this isn't the first time I have taught someone successfully. =] go me! ha. Anyway, I remember when I met her in Achievement days back in the Fourth ward. Sometimes we would have sleep overs and hop her fence and go to BP and get ice cream for the night and stay up eating it and watching movies and talking and playing our secret poker with the secret stash of stuffed animals that I would sneak over haha. We have had some super crazy times together and very memorable ones at that. When Michael and I broke up, she was the very first person I went to immediately after everything happened and even though she was packing for school, she let me just lie on her bed and cry for a few hours. I think that is something that makes a good friend; someone who is willing to drop everything to be there for you and just listen to you or let you cry or whatever and not ask questions until you are ready and even then, they don't care about the details, just making sure that you are okay and helping you get through everything is what they care most about. I got so cried out at her house I didn't cry for a week after that (even though my mom could still tell something was wrong). We would always get together when she came home from school and last year when I was up in Logan, she was always willing to let me go to church with her when I would go to Provo for a weekend, in fact she would be insistent on it. Then, one Sunday mid Spring semester, I was having a really hard week and was just so not myself and lonely and everything and so I was laying on my couch watching a movie when I heard a knock on the door. Thinking it was one of Megan and Alli's friends I just opened it and sure enough there stood Bekah. She got Grant to drive her the two and a half hours up to Logan just so she could check on me and make sure I was going to be okay and just spent a few hours up there playing games, taking, and eating dinner. It was so great. That really is a best friend; she dropped everything for me yet again and I will always be so grateful to her for everything that she does for me.She also just happens to be getting married in November and I just happen to get to be one of her fabulously important bridesmaids/maids of honor and I couldn't be more excited! It has been so much fun helping her out here and there planning this wonderful event and I can't wait!! I could write about so many other events because we have shared so many memorable experiences (including Girls Camp!!!!) and conversations (we can talk about anything and everything all of the time) but for now, these are some of the highlights.

2) Laura: Laura and I met second semester of Sophomore year in English, the treacherously awful English class that tested us beyond belief. We sat next to each other the whole semester and did projects together and what not and became instant friends. We decided to go to the zoo over spring break I think it was and that was great fun. We too have made plenty of ice cream runs in our time. I think I have a serious addiction to ice cream or something ha. We still didn't have our licenses which made doing things difficult so our parents had to take us places but it was still such a great summer. She even stuck around when I decided to be lame and get a boyfriend for a year haha. She would always hang out with us and the three of us did so much together, including Elitches, movies, Rockies games, and all kinds of whatnot. We spent New Years Eve in my basement watching movies and popping poppers at each other and staying up wicked late. She has been such a true friend through a lot. It was great to know that even though I had a boyfriend, I still had my friends. We have made a few trips to Idaho Springs, Breckenridge, Copper Mountain, and downtown for all kinds of things. And yes, we take thousands and thousands of pictures of each other all the time haha. She even came out to Utah over Spring Break for a few days to hang out and we made a little adventure to Idaho late at night, Logan, SLC, and Provo. It was great fun .We have lots of fun together and she knows when something is wrong with me and doesn't just give me crap answers about stuff. She even talks to my mom a lot. I sure do have great friends.

3) Sutton: Oh Sutton, what to say about this loverly gal. She was my bath buddy all through high school. We had math together three of the four years and the one year we didn't have it we had the same teacher so we could still help each other. I think that's when we really became good friends. We were friends in middle school but never really had a lot of classes together so our friendship really blossomed in high school. We did so many projects together and had so many interesting adventures together, including a little WalMart run that we did because we had to get supplies to make a Pinata for math haha and my brother took us.... That was always an experience having my brother take us places hahahaha. Including the time that he let me drive home through the neighborhood to teach me to drive stick with Sutton in the back seat. We too would also have crazy late night adventures together renting movies and talking about life and everything. We just vent so much to each other about life and it always works great because even if we haven't seen each other for awhile (like going away to school) we can just pick right back up in our friendship and laugh about life and everything that has been happening to us. I just love her and love that when we are together we can just laugh endlessly and have a good time and vent like none other.

4) Sarah: I met Sarah about a year ago up at USU. It's kinda funny how we met actually. See, we were moving in and just loving our new found freedom (me and Jessi) of college life when Sarah wandered in to our apartment. We had our door open because that's what everyone was doing the first week up there and she was from the second floor but none of her roommates were there yet so she was just wandering around talking to people. For some reason my internet was working on my computer but no one else's would work and she somehow found this out and came in and wanted to use my computer to check Facebook. haha. After that, Sarah, Jessi, and myself became instant friends and did almost everything together. School then started and we realized we had a couple of classes together and our friendship just grew from there. Even though she didn't technically live with me, if felt like it sometimes. She would sleep over, or make herself at home and visa-versa. We would and still do talk about anything and everything and just understand each other and our problems because we are so much alike. Sarah actually picked me up from the airport in January with Sammy after Christmas break to take me to Bountiful to get my car and we got so so lost it was hilarious. We even spent a couple of weekends at her house in Salt Lake throughout the year, and anytime I would make the journey to Provo for a weekend, she would generally accompany me and make for very interesting and memorable car rides (some of those memories can never be repeated for the public to know hahah). We have had so many great experiences together I can't even write about them all, but she knows and I know and will always remember. =]

I am so grateful for all of my friends. I look at this list and it is so interesting because a lot of times people have a group of best friends and they all do everything together but my list is opposite. These girls are all my best friends, but I have never been with two of them at the same time. It's crazy how much life is the same yet different with different people. I am very thankful for it, and their love and examples, and friendship throughout the years that I have known them. What would we do without friends in our lives to keep us going?

Tender Mercies

(I just really really love this picture)

Sometimes the Lord has these ways of providing sweet, tender mercies at just the right time. I've never really thought too much about it in my life until this week. School has been a pain in the butt trying to deal with this semester because of how much it costs. I was originally hoping to get the WUE scholarship back in March when I applied, but then I came to find out that I was number 252 on the wait list for it, which means i would be waiting for it for YEARS. What a pain. So then, I decided to just take 9 credits to make it a little easier to pay for it. Then, Monday, I was checking my email and I had an email from Ryan Burton. He just happens to be the director of the WUE scholarship. I go on to read it and sure enough, somehow, even after being number 252 on the wait list, he was offering me the scholarship. It was a completely shocking. Come to find out that I have to add another class to be at 12 credits, but, it means that tuition is only going to be about three of four hundred dollars instead of thousands and thousands of dollars. Biggest relief all year. I still can't really believe it.
This week, I also have had three different job interviews. I guess those 30 applications and resumes might be starting to slightly pay off.... maybe. But I am not holding my breath too much yet. We'll see what happens I suppose......

Packing

I have spent a great part of this week going through things and packing and trying to decide what I REALLY need to take with me back to school, and somehow, I still have LOADS and LOADS of stuff that I am taking. It seems to be never ending! I hate packing oh so much as well which make this all the more difficult. Now that I am almost done I just have to put it back in my car and then make sure I get all my last minute things in the morning. I literally have no clothes or hair accessories or anything left in my room. It is quite depressing....... and tomorrow begins the very long drive back to Provo.....

Dinosaurs

Please believe me when I tell you that a 19 year old (no not me) truly believes there was a dinosaur running across the street as we chased it down tonight. And then somehow it magically turned in to a baby dragon..... Sometimes I wonder about my friends. But then again, I also wonder about myself, because I know for a fact that I am so not normal by any account, but I am so wonderfully okay with this that it doesn't even matter. And, I hate to admit it, well not really, but I am more than okay with my friends. They really are just the best. Even if they do believe there are dinosaurs running around (and she is an archaeologist she should know better! ha). In case you don't believe I am not normal, just ask me to use an inside voice sometime. I am pretty sure that when people ask me to do this my voice just naturally gets even louder. It is ridiculous. And, sometimes when I see bunnies running through the streets, I tend not to slow down; I chase them instead. Mostly non intentionally and subconsciously, but nontheless, chase them. Poor creatures.

Shoes

Since this is my last week in Colorado, and I have a ton of stuff going on this week, I don't have much time to pack, so I did a lot of it today; mostly just my clothes and whatnot. It was quite entertaining. My closet is now pretty empty and it's pretty ridiculous. Then, as if it was my last day here, I kept on going! I decided that shoes take up way too much room in my suitcase so I would just put them in a laundry basket and call it good. Well, here is the laundry basket, BUT not all of my shoes! haha. My mom just about died when I took it in her room to show her. I never realized how many shoes I really have! Half of them I can't wear right now because of my surgery, but I will be back in them soon have no fear! Maybe I should cut back? Nah, I mean common, I already bought three pairs while being home this summer! I can't stop now! ha! Packing is just so not my idea of a good time.
